Many twinned cities have developed trade agreements with their partners. For example, Ben & Jerry`s Ice Cream in Vermont opened a factory in the Republic of Karelia in Russia and offered its Russian employees the same profit-benefit plan. Although the term is often interchangeable, it can mean, with the term “city of friendship”, a more limited relationship compared to a twinned city relationship, and the relations between cities of friendship are mayor-mayor agreements.
